Paul Anik

I'm heartbroken to report that Paul Anik, book collector and mystery lover who was organizing Left Coast Crime 2010 in Los Angeles, died suddenly of a heart attack.

I have seldom known anyone who was so enthusiastic about life and the books he loved. He will be missed.

His memorial service was attended by hundreds, and the shock and sorrow felt by everyone was palpable. He will be sorely missed by those who had the good fortune of knowing him. How many times have you heard a speaker do that to a microphone, not quite believing his or her voice was being heard by the audience? You find me in a similar position, and apologizing in advance if I'm as clumsy as that speaker.
