Medical Examiners and Coroners Offices

I'll talk more about this after I finish up with the class I'm teaching, but...

In case you missed the news, the Bureau of Justice Statistics just issued a report on a study of Medical Examiners and Coroners Offices in the US, based on the year 2004.

News releases noted that there are over 13,500 unidentified human remains on record in those offices.

The report is also another resource for those who want to see numbers on how overworked public forensic science providers are these days.

Now there's a story. Will the Lost Ones ever be identified?

I wish it were a bigger story in the news, Jade. It's heartbreaking.

If you know anyone who has a missing person in their family, please urge them to submit DNA to the national database -- and if they live in a state that has a state database, to that one as well.

Hello - I just wanted to tell you that I heard you speak at the graduation ceremony at CSULB (my son's girlfriend graduated). I enjoyed your talk so much!! So much so, that I went out & bought 'Goodnight Irene'. Since then I've read 2 other of your books - I'm hooked. I just wanted you to know that your speech was wonderful & I am enjoying your books very much.

Hello Jan,

I just wanted to tell you that I have been reading your books since oh, 2003. I am totally following the Irene Kelly storyline. I am reading Kidnapped right now. Do you intend to keep her storyline going? ( I hope so!)

Hi Jennifer!

Many thanks! While the next book is a standalone, there is also an Irene Kelly book in the works.

Yours,
Jan
